Open-air cinema in Travemünde

Feet in the sand, the Baltic Sea sky above you, a salty sea breeze and your eyes fixed on the large cinema screen on Travemünde’s Kurstrand beach – that is happiness! As if by magic, the beach by the Nordermole jetty will be transformed for ten evenings in August 2021 into a large open-air cinema under the motto “Cinema under a Baltic Sea sky”. Admission begins at 7.00 p.m. and the evening film starts at 9.00 p.m. Find your favourite spot in a beach chair, deckchair or on the Strandterrassen beach terraces! Wrap yourself in a woollen blanket and enjoy this unique cinematic experience against the dream backdrop of the Baltic Sea with big ships on the horizon! Run the film! We will inform you as soon as we know more about how and under what restrictions this extraordinarily popular summer event can be staged in 2021.

Cinematic enjoyment with supporting programme

Blockbusters, classics of cinematic history and major stars of the big screen – the varied programme gets film buffs’ pulses racing. Every evening a different cinema experience, always in the best company, always under a starry sky on the Baltic Sea beach. And to go with the particular film, the organisers put on an imaginative supporting programme to round off your cinema evening. It might be a raffle, a wellness offer or a celebrity dropping in. Take it as it comes!

No cinema without popcorn

Popcorn, nachos and sweets naturally form part of any genuine cinema experience. The food court on the Strandterrassen beach terraces will also spoil you with all kinds of snacks and sweet food from 3 p.m. onwards . The barmen in the stylish cocktail bar outside the entrance to the cinema area will also mix you trendy drinks. The drinks menu contains refreshing soft drinks, long drinks and tasty cocktails. The bar opens as early as 12 noon.

How much does cinema under the Baltic Sea sky cost?

The regular price for children (under 12) is € 7 , for adults € 10 with a reduced rate of € 9 with a CineStarCARD and the LN Abo Plus Card. These tickets are available in the Stadthalle city hall and online at cinestar.de/openair. In addition, some remaining tickets are still available every evening at the box office.

Professional tips for your cinematic experience on the beach

  • Dress like an onion! Better to put on a pullover over your shirt and take a jacket with you. It can get chilly when the sun goes down.

  • Don’t forget a woollen blanket to snuggle under

  • For a seat on the Strandterrassen beach terraces: take a cushion to sit on to make it more comfortable

  • Get your ticket early! The open-air cinema is very popular!
